Time Difference Between Dubai and London

The gap here is small enough that scheduling is rarely the problem; the working week is. Dubai runs Monday to Friday, and UAE government offices close at midday on Friday, so Friday afternoon in the Gulf is already weekend while London still has half a day left. Inside a normal day, Dubai's afternoon covers London's morning almost exactly. 1 PM to 5 PM in Dubai is 9 AM to 1 PM in London for most of the year, and both sides are at their desks for all of it. The compromise only appears at the edges. A 6 PM London call is 9 PM in Dubai, which the Gulf side will take occasionally and resent as a standing weekly commitment.

Dubai's clock never moves, so every change on this route is London's doing. From January 1 to March 28 London sits four hours behind Dubai. British Summer Time starts on March 29 and the gap closes to three hours, which holds until October 24. On October 25 the clocks go back and it is four hours again through December 31. The winter arrangement is the awkward one. A standing 4 PM call in Dubai is 1 PM in London in summer and noon in winter, landing on top of the London lunch hour, and nobody notices until the second week of thin attendance.

The nonstop is close to seven hours each way and several airlines run it multiple times daily, so the question is which departure rather than which routing. Three or four hours eastbound is a short night rather than a ruined week; most people are functional the next morning and normal by the second. Westbound to London barely registers. The complication is that Dubai is a connection point for onward flights to Asia and Australia, and a five-hour layover there puts you awake in a terminal at what your body still calls three in the morning, which is a worse experience than the flight that preceded it.
